Mercedes Pinto, DVM
Associate Veterinarian

Dr. PintoDr. Mercedes Pinto received her Bachelor's degree from Adam's State College, and her doctorate of veterinary medicine from Colorado State University. When she graduated from veterinary school in 2002 she came to Fairbanks to visit a friend, and found her home. Dr. Pinto worked at a nearby veterinary hospital in the Fairbanks area as a small animal veterinarian from 2002 to 2007, when she moved to Texas with her new husband, Mike. While in Texas she worked at Banfield, the Pet Hospital, but in 2008 Mike was deployed to Iraq, and Dr. Pinto came back to Fairbanks to work at After Hours Emergency Veterinary Clinic.

Dr. Pinto currently lives in Virginia with her husband Mike and 6 of their 8 rescue pets (2 German Shepherds and 4 cats), and works in Fairbanks (where their 2 ferrets live). Dr. Pinto loves to get out and play in Alaska, and is proud to volunteer for the Yukon Quest and Golden Heart Pet Assistance League.

Dr. Pinto is thrilled to be at Chena Ridge Veterinary Hospital. She enjoys working with small mammals and cats as well as dogs, and loves the variety in pets, people, and medicine that can only be found in Alaska. She and Mike are counting down for December 2013, when Mike will retire from the US Army, and they will move back to Fairbanks.
